Things to do…

There is so much to see and do in Northumberland and the Northumberland National Park, we are in a great central location for lots of activities and days out.

Kielder Observatory

A terrific experience for amateur astronomers and enthusiasts. There is a varied program of events throughout the year, really worth a visit.

Northumberland is home to England’s cleanest rivers, clearest air, the darkest skies.

The Sill

It’s a hub for the rural economy; a laboratory; centre and base for education from primary to tertiary level; a driver for the Northumberland economy; a celebration and a reminder of the importance of landscape in understanding who we are as a nation, and a place to emphasise the importance of its care.

Kielder Water

Kielder Water & Forest Park brings you nature on a grander scale. Home to the biggest man-made lake in Northern Europe and, at over 250 square miles, the largest working forest in England. Something for everyone the perfect setting to walk, cycle, picnic and so much more.

Northumberland Coast Line

With more than 30 miles of beaches the Northumberland Coast is simply spectacular. Within an hour of our hideaways you can find this amazing coast line scattered with castles and stunning views. The Farne Islands and Holy Island and great days out.

Hadrian’s Wall

Stretching 73 miles from coast to coast, Hadrian’s Wall was built to guard the wild north-west frontier of the Roman Empire.

Discover the remains of the forts, towers, turrets and towns that once kept watch over the Wall. See rare Roman artefacts, get hands-on in museums and take in spectacular views of the rugged landscape to find out what life was like for the men, women and children on the edge of Roman Britain.

Kielder Bike Hire

Explore the vast trail network in Kielder. There’s technical single track that takes you into the forest, or take the easier Lakeside Way for a full 26 mile lap along the shores of Kielder Water.
